不是每个时刻都值得纪念，

但是那些承载着成长和感动的日子，

注定在记忆里闪闪发光。

今年是启明星学校创立的第二十个年头，

我们将启动一系列活动，

邀请所有的、包括曾经的启明星社区成员参加，

庆祝启明星的第二十个生日，

共襄孩子们快乐的成长，

让本就发光的日子继续闪闪发亮！

校董来信

亲爱的启明星社区成员，

进入2022-23学年标志着启明星已经成立20周年了。启明星学校于2002年由Dawn Vermilya女士和她的丈夫蔡金勇先生共同创办，发展至今较初期阶段表面上有了很大不同。启明星在最早办学时是一间小小的学校，从二百五十平方米的面积，一共3名学生，年龄最大的学生7岁，发展到目前占地四万五千平方米，拥有1000名学生，年龄最大的学生18岁。

但如果深入启明星，你会发现现在的启明星与20年前的相似之处远远多于不同。如果我们把两位启明星的学生放在一起，一位是20年前的学生，一位是现在的学生，可能你无法看出他们有哪些不同之处。他们都遵循启明星的核心价值观：尊重、关爱、卓越、团结和服务；他们低调但自信，对任何人都彬彬有礼；他们都有强烈的服务他人的精神；他们也有一个共同的期待，希望可以尽自己所能做到最好。作为一名启明星的学生，他们的本质始终没有改变。

在2015年，Dawn和金勇把启明星的接力棒交到我手上。他们至今仍然是启明星董事会的成员，并与其他董事会成员一起共同守护启明星的发展和成长。我想大家一定都赞同我们所有社区成员都肩负启明星的使命——无论是过去还是现在，无论是年幼还是年长。

在我们迈入20周年之际，我期待与你们每一个人见证与分享。启明星加油！

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of Daystar.

We plan to initiate a series of events

andinvite all Daystar community members, old and new,

to celebrate Daystar’s 20th birthday,

share in the happiness of the students’ growth,

and preserve these beautiful moments!

Dear Daystar community members,

2022 marks the 20th year of Daystar Academy. When it was founded in 2002 by Dawn Vermilya and her husband Cai Jinyong, on the surface it would be barely recognizable from now. It was small, with 3 students in the beginning as compared to 1000 students today. The school occupied a space that was maybe 250 sqm, as compared to a total land area of 45,000sqm today. The oldest student was 7 years old, as compared to 18 years old now.

However, if you look deeper, you will find that there are more similarities than differences. If we were to put two students side by side - one from 20 years ago and one from now - you will not be able to tell the difference. They all share the same core values of respect, caring, excellence, unity, and service. They are not flashy, but they both have a quiet confidence while being polite and civil to everyone around them. They are both eager to be of service to others. They also share a common expectation of themselves to do the best that they can. The essence of what it means to be a Daystar student has not changed.

Dawn and Jinyong passed the baton to me in 2015. While they are still very much involved and play an important role together with the Advisory School Board guiding the development of the school, I think they would all agree that it will take everyone in our community to fulfill the mission of Daystar. Past and present, young and old.

I look forward to connecting with each of you as we march into our 20th year. Go Daystar!

receive your commemoration box

Daystar is a large family, and everyone is a dear family member. We just organzied our alumni association and are calling out to all Daystar alumni to contact us and come back home for our 20th anniversary.

You can scan the QR code below or leave your contact information to join the Daystar Alumni Association. We will mail the 20th anniversary commemoration box to your address（Current students do not need to register and we will distribute 20th anniversary commemoration box during school day.）

We also hope that you will leave words or a video of your best wishes to Daystar. We will include these blessings in the celebration video and commemorative album.
