During a podcast interview on ClutchPoints’ Warriors Multiverse podcast with Mark Haynes, Poole opened up about his relationship with Curry.
“It’s amazing. First of all, Steph is big bro. I ask him questions all the time…It’s like, imagine if a younger brother, a younger player going against the older player, you’re going to want to ask as many questions as you can. They’re going to want to teach you,” Poole told ClutchPoints’.
Poole is 22 years old and full of potential. Curry is a two-time MVP and three-time NBA champion. Having a superstar willing to mentor his younger teammate is a massive plus for the Warriors. When Curry is off the court and Poole makes a huge play, he cheers like the reserve player. It creates an environment for Poole to feel comfortable and play his game.
“It’s year three for me, and I think this is year 13 for Steph . I’m ten years of knowledge behind, and that’s the guy that I want to ask questions, Poole said. “It’s s amazing, man, and we’re both competitive, and we always want to get better. Whenever we go against each other, it’s always competitive, and we try to push each other as much as possible. I try to push him to let him be as great as he can be. I try to learn as much as possible from him.”
Poole made a huge leap in his second season with the Warriors. He averaged 12 points off the bench and set a career-high 38 points.
